Campaperi, Brunello di Montalcino 2015

Flag of Italy

Campaperi, which takes its name from a Tuscan mispronunciation of “field of pear trees” (which still edge all the vineyards today) was established at the end of the 19th century in Tavernelle, just a few kilometres from Montalcino. Now into the 4th generation of family ownership, they proudly produce some of the region's top wines. Brunello di Montalcino 2015, from that seminal vintage, is made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso and is an intense ruby in colour. Aromas of red cherries, redcurrant and wild strawberry play on the palate amongst a backdrop of vanilla, cinnamon and sweet tobacco. Full, smooth and soft; the finish is long, with an aromatic persistence and complex structure. Pairs equally well with grilled red meats or hard cheeses.
